Tino Vettorello was designated by the Italian Olympic committee Coni to cater the Casa Italia Atletica1 at the Winter Olympic Games in Vancouver from 12 to 18 February 2010.
Mr. Vettorello is a 49-year old entrepreneur, owner of the Tino Eventi company and of the restaurant and butcher’s shop combined “Da Tino” in Roncadelle di Ormelle.
He lives in San Polo di Piave, in the province of Treviso.
He built up his experience working in local restaurants and hotels as well as in his family-run company dealing with food trade, where he became aware of the importance of selecting quality raw products.
After that, he established his own original restaurant, where customers coming in first get in touch with the butcher’s counter. He followed his vocation for catering activities by participating in important events where he presented typical Italian dishes.
In Canada, Mr. Vettorello will look after the two restaurants of Casa Italia Atletica in Vancouver and Winstley, where Italian athletes and staff, journalists, sponsors and other operators will gather.
The catering staff is composed of both professionals from Treviso and Canadian personnel.
Italian flavours will be the protagonists of the entire menu, which varies between specific dishes for people with coeliac disease or vegetarians, carbohydrate and protein-based food products, among the others. All the Italian regions will be well represented, paying particular attention to IGP and DOP products, that is, those with a Protected Geographical Indication or a Protected Denomination of Origin.
In Vancouver, Mr. Vettorello will also collaborate with the internationally renowned chef Fabio Campoli.
Support also came from the Veneto emigrants in Canada, and sincere collaborations were established with local restaurants of Italian origin.
Mr. Vettorello points out that: «All the conditions exist for it to become an extraordinary experience, which we hope will be accompanied by many Italian successes on ski slopes and ice rinks».
