The Consorzio per la Tutela del Prosecco di Conegliano-Valdobbiadene presented its annual report on 12th December, complete with all the figures related to this Made in Italy phenomenon.
What emerged from these economic data is the anti-crisis potential of the Prosecco district: production grew by over 40% between 2003 and 2008, thanks to the installation of new plants, especially for the reclamation of hilly areas.
Together with this volume growth, turnover increased too reaching the amount of € 370 million.
The increase was confirmed by the growth experienced by sparkling wine which is the highest value-added typology: it reached the 86% of total production.
In spite of this difficult period, Prosecco demonstrated its stability as well in 2008, thanks to exports towards more than 50 countries and its strengthening on the national market.
The preview on data for 2009 shows that Prosecco is the most sold sparkling wine, with an annual turnover of more than 14%.
The growing success obtained during these years is due to the correct value/quality ratio.
Moreover, tourism is intended to become a tool through which it will be possible to gain knowledge about our territory.
