CSR and Lean organization. A company culture in favour of credit

20/03/2009 | Events |  Focus on Anodica Trevigiana

This visit was arranged at the company Anodica Trevigiana in Codognè (province of Treviso) as part of a series of four visits organised by Treviso Chamber of Commerce to get to know the companies operating under Corporate Social Responsibility.

Private citizens and companies interested in looking deeper into the theme of CSR can take part in this programme.

This is a new approach, also shared by the company’s owner Giorgio Zanchetta, allowing – he says - better knowledge regarding the field of Corporate Social Responsibility and better profiling of those involved.

Corporate Social Responsibility and certification are now fundamental elements requested by suppliers in order to have an overall guarantee of quality and transparency throughout the whole product development process within the entire industrial chain.

Being certified and having a code of ethics permitted the company to make proper planning for its future actions, thus favouring relationships with banks which may endorse it.

Not even relations with customers and suppliers are handled on an unplanned basis: rather, they are based on connections leading to customer loyalty and, therefore, continuity of relations over time.
The raw material treated by Anodica is aluminium, whose purchase is adjusted to its fluctuating prices after being determined with the customer with a non-speculative approach.

Therefore, we would like to highlight the relations with suppliers, to whom the technicians of Anodica pay visit in order to enhance the performance of supplied components with a view to maintaining free, long-term know-how exchange.
Each office and department had the opportunity to show their diverse skills, the attention paid to job satisfaction and their involvement towards improving production according to individual skills.

Discrediting the idea that security costs.

Anodica adopted some measures - which had certainly required data analysis and observation over a period - leading to performance improvement thanks to lower production costs, timing and more efficiency in preventing injuries and, therefore, increasing productivity and yield.

Another important aspect to be considered is the choice to open a plant in Turkey. This delocalization gives value to the company, which foreign customers can perceive as reliable since they notice an international approach.
Anodica’s exports reached the 64% of production in the period January/February 2009.

Taking a look at the key stages of Anodica’s manufacturing activities, which are strongly characterized by the entrepreneur’s choices: he closed his oldest business plants in 1991, then opened a brand new business in 1992. Customers are new - "the customer makes the business", Zanchetta underlines – as well as skills and specialisations, determined by the same entrepreneur.

ISO 9001 was the company’s first certification in 1997, followed by ISO 14001 in 2000, thanks to investment in high-productivity automation.
2004 saw the company become an S.p.A. In 2007 it was awarded the UNI-INAIL work safety certification, being one of the few companies awarded in Treviso. Then it earned the OHSAS 18001 and SA8000 certification, and, in 2008, it became member of the Lean Enterprise Club on the theme of Lean Organization, which guides the new organisational philosophy of the company.

During the visit, various processing phases were presented.

Anodica is a producer which made important decisions on the quality and management of the production process.

Corporate Social Responsibility for Anodica means building customer loyalty, strengthening its reputation, creating a competitive differential, having access to financial sources, creating good relations with institutions and neighbouring residents, and creating trust around the company.

Corporate Social Responsibility in internal management means sharing core values with employees, improving the organisational climate, creating a better working environment, and more ethical, ecological and low-emissions products.

There’s an entrepreneur behind every company, whose personal choices influence the way corporate image is perceived.
