the pioneer of casual wear, was appointed to Ms. Maria Luisa Frisa.
A prize to support new creative designers of denim

Fashion feels at home in the Faculty of Design and Arts of IUAV University of Venice; and a very special ceremony is taking place on Tuesday 15th November, at 5 pm: a chair to commemorate the founder of a universally known fashion brand.

Claudio Buziol, untimely died a few years ago, was the soul of Replay: for the first time in Italy, the worlds of fashion and university meet, for this chair which carries the name of a designer-entrepreneur.

The tribute given by university to this important Italian entrepreneur met the activity of Fondazione Claudio Buziol in order to support the training of young talents of Italian fashion.

The chair Claudio Buziol has been activated for the three years 2007-2010 within the undergraduate degree of Fashion Design, and was appointed to Maria Luisa Frisa, who is the director of this faculty since 2005.

Maria Luisa Frisa explains that: “It is a great honour for us to have the possibility to fulfil Claudio Buziol’s spiritual and professional will, projecting it into a university plan aimed at promoting experimentation in the fashion sector and within the research of new trends”.

Maria Luisa Frisa, during these three years, desires to arrange the course as a toolbox rich in experience and chances of studying, paying particular attention to denim’s world as a constant presence in young people’s lives, and as a representation of the same ideals of freedom, autonomy, creativity and equality that Claudio Buziol wanted to convey with his Replay jeans.
The presentation of the Chair will take place in Venice at the Faculty of Design and Arts of the IUAV University, Terese, Dorsoduro 2206.

Participants to the events will be:
the chancellor of the IUAV University of Venice Carlo Magnani,
the dean of the faculty of Arts and Design Marco De Michelis,
the president of Treviso Chamber of Commerce Federico Tessari,
the president of the Fashion Cluster Unindustria Treviso Alessandra Pegorer,
the president of Fashion Box Group (Replay) and of the Fondazione Claudio Buziol Paola Dametto Buziol,
the guru of casual fashion Elio Fiorucci.

There will also be Beppe Donazzan, author of the book “La forza del sogno (Strength of the dream). Claudio Buziol and Replay”, published in 2006 by Marsilio.
The event will also offer the occasion to elect and reward the winners of the international contest “A box of Dreams” for fashion designers, which is another important initiative in the field of fashion, strongly wanted by the Fondazione Claudio Buziol in order to support emerging creatives.
