PSYCHEDELIC ALMANAC HAPPY BIRTHDAY MR ALBERT HOFMANN Conference meeting, pictures, images and much more, by Summer of Love
Treviso, via a. papa, 1 29th of March 2006 3.00pm
Introduction by Simonetta Franci and Maria Luisa Frisa
Wednesday the 29th of March at 3.00 pm in the Fashion Design Meeting Room Via A. Papa 1, Treviso, Matteo Guarnaccia – essayist, visual artist, historian of costume and a meaningful representative of the 60s and 70s Italian psychedelic cultural movement – will hold a “Psychedelic Almanac” Conference.
The psychedelic movement has been one of the last 1900 vanguard mass movements. It was a philosophic movement, tied up to the innermost world’s search, to voyages and to the widening of consciousness.
It reflected, with surprising outcomes, into the artistic creation's world, leaving on it an indelible sign.
An imaginary that was particularly effective and which, beginning from three very meaningful cities, Amsterdam, London and San Francisco, won the whole word’s favour, opening to new and exciting frontiers within the communication field, radically changing even the way to use and perceive the artistic medium.
An unexpected short-circuit occuring in between the rock’n’roll and the western humanistic tradition, the mysticism and new technologies, the social protest and the sexual liberation.
It is a movement born on the roads leading the new travellers towards the Far East, born during pop festivals, by new underground magazines’ printing works, by the movie’s sets, born into the tailoring and dressmaking shops, born from words of songs and musics played by bands like Beatles and Pink Floyd.
The psychedelic movement, more than 40 years from its official birth, is still very much lively and it still represents one of the most important sources for artistic and cultural inspiration affecting anybody dealing with visual arts, fashion, music, publishing, commercials and the media.
