The area stretching from the city of Conegliano as far as Vittorio Veneto is characterized by many important firms which constitute a productive set of particular significance: that of sectors concerning the production of electrical household appliance (refrigerators, fridge-freezers, washing machines, clothes dryers, dishwashers, washer-driers, horizontal and vertical deepfreezers, kitchen units) and food service equipment.

The historical nucleus of the district must be researched precisely in the area of Conegliano and Vittorio Veneto, where many small and medium-sized enterprises were born as spin-off of Zoppas and Zanussi, a system so rich and well integrated as to be called Inox Valley, name which further ratify the role and importance of these productions for the territorial economy, together with the peculiarity of their development, which make them still visible as a socio-productive reality.

The actual local production has its foundation on the development of the section of household appliance, even though nowadays this productive specialization constitutes only a part of the economic web which day by day has expanded and branched: actually the district presents also some significant integrations both with other linked manufacturing (doors, windows and shutters production) and with neighbouring Solighese and Livenza districts of furniture factories, acting sometimes as a sort of hinge between Veneto and Friuli.

Most workers of the productive set of inox live in Conegliano and Vittorio Veneto and the two pivotal firms for the birth of this district have been Zanussi and Zoppas.
Zanussi (which is still the most important settling of the district, also if nowadays is in a downsizing phase) was born in 1916, when Antonio Zanussi, owner of a small stove workshop in Pordenone, began to trade his products. Now the production of the factory of Susegana (TV) is addressed to different markets compared to those of all the others local firms and contributes to the growth of the district, primarily in the field of specialized manufacturing linked to local subcontracts.

On the contrary, the part of the firm that deals with food service equipment integrates more deeply with the local production paths of growth, both for the contiguity of markets controlled and for the use of webs of supply settled in the territory.
But at the origin of the rich industrial history of the district we can also found the name of another big-sized enterprise: Zoppas. It arose in about 1925 and it has a history similar to that of Zanussi. Their vicissitudes converged at the beginning of the '70, with the realization of a strategic merging, when Zanussi took over the activities of Zoppas.
This merging subsequently gave birth to products with an increasingly innovatory design, an advanced technology and a great functionality.
