2003 Activity: TREVISO GLOCAL

In 2003 Treviso Glocal carried out a Help Desk service providing information, assistance and support on all international and import/export issues within the scope of improved economic-trade relations with foreign countries.
The services offered by Treviso Glocal can be summed up in seven main areas:

  • Realization of planned activities for the development of foreign relations and trade aimed at supporting firms operating in the Treviso province. The agency promoted and valorised relations with public agencies such as ICE (Institute for Foreign Trade) and Italian Chambers of Commerce abroad. A good example of the synergy between Treviso Glocal and Ice aimed at strengthening trade relations with the People's Republic of China, was the organization and management of conferences during the visit by the Chinese delegation from Dalian. A further example of synergy between the two agencies was the organization of an informative Videoconference on SARS.
  • Supplying, also in foreign countries, the necessary operative supports to improve the promotional, economical and commercial activity of firms operating in the Treviso Province. Treviso Glocal widened its network of foreign consultants to supply ever more comprehensive services to our firms in fiscal, legal and trade matters. The agency also cooperates with foreign consultancies for keeping up-to-date on legal and trade issues in order to prevent any type of problem. One example can be represented by the seminar organized in cooperation with the Torta studio entitled: “Fabricating and selling products in China: how to protect one's technological and commercial wealth.”
  • Managing the necessary logistic services as regards functional operability of economic-trade initiatives from and to foreign countries. The basic services supplied to firms in the Treviso province fall within this framework, i.e.:
  1. Translations of simple and technical texts made by our consultants or foreign translators of proven reliability whose services the agency has often used during its commercial missions;
  2. Forwarding services;
  3. Internet research services, the agency carried out market surveys for firms seeking foreign partners;
  4. Solvency research services required by firms who operate with foreign countries and need to know the actual financial position of partner companies.
  • The front desk or better information and consultancy activity provided to firms of the Treviso province in matters of:
  1. International contracts;
  2. General and sectoral information on international markets;
  3. Information on trade fairs and promotional events;
  4. Customs documents and duties;
  5. International payments;
  6. International Transport;
  7. 2000 Incoterms ;
  8. Trademarks and patents;
  9. International marketing;
  10. Funding laws for trade action;
  11. Provisions to support Internationalisation;
  12. Productive and/or commercial cooperation offers;
  13. Investment opportunities further to privatization.
    The information was supplied by phone (by directly answering calls in real time), by computer (using also web call centre and web research services, translating the information from a foreign language to Italian), through meetings with specialized consultants by topic/geo-economical area and also by organizing thematic seminars (e.g. on trademark and patent protection in China, on customs and communitarian regulations concerning exporting wine and grappa, etc).
  • Organization of events, trade fairs, exhibitions and other similar events of national and international character on Treviso's economy. The most important initiatives were as follows:
  1. in cooperation with Assosport, a Gala evening at ISPO WINTER 2003 in Munich was organised for 1,500 guests
  2. participation to the two most important trade fairs for the Treviso winegrowing sector - PROWEIN in Dusseldorf and VINITALY in Verona,
  3. 30th World Tailors Congress which more than 500 tailors from all over the world took part to,
  4. Trade mission to the United States organised at the same time as the Fancy Food Fair (23 June - 7 July) for a number of firms in the agrifeeding sector (industrial and not) in the Treviso province. Success was measured also by the number of contacts with companies.
  5. Trade mission to the United States for textile sector companies of Treviso's Employers' Association (28 September - 1 October).
  6. Trade mission to Moscow for textile sector companies of Treviso's Employers' Association (28 September - 1 October).
    In 2003 the company therefore proved again to be an operative tool for promotion and internationalisation of Treviso's productive system.
  • Organization of seminars and meetings to inform economic operators on the most important issues connected to the evolution of world economy, identifying development objectives in countries/areas such as USA, China and the Far east.
  • Reception of economic delegations from the five continents (United States, Chile, Argentina, Serbia, Romania, Malaysia, China, Taiwan, Congo, Kenya, Australia.). Treviso's economic model was presented and contacts between our firms and those represented by guest delegations were fostered.
