SETTING UP IN BUSINESS MEANS BUSINESS
The new guide to setting up in business

The new guide to entrepreneurship, drawn up in cooperation with the Treviso Tecnologia Special Board is availableon the Chamber of Commerce website. It is not exactly a business plan, nor is it a comprehensive source of administrative-legal information for setting up any business, but rather a preliminary tool designed for those who have a business idea, but do not know "where to start from".

The structure, as shown below, is purposely simple and starts from a general index of seven fundamental headings which sum up the main issues a potential entrepreneur is faced with according to a hypothetical logical path.

The headings cover the entrepreneur’s profile, cost assessment, venture capital, choosing the product/service to be offered, al marke-

ting, the venture’s internal organization, and finally the legal status that should be adopted.
These are topics that, although in different ways, involve all enterprises, even individual concerns, and all kinds of sector and business, including the smallest and most traditional one.

Each title has been developed according to the following items: "theme", "history", "Olympus services", "useful links".
The "theme" clearly and concisely describes the issues connected with the specific heading, drawing the reader’s attention to its most important aspects or the overlooked and less obvious ones. One can see, for example, that the first theme - becoming an entrepreneur - highlights the time factor, i.e. the time lapse between investment and earning. This certainly varies depending on the activity, and has a two-fold impact on a venture – firstly when drawing up an assessment of its profitability, which obviously cannot be suitably carried out before it is fully operative, and secondly in analysing the resources needed, which do not mean the mere initial investments.

The "history" is, in fact, a simulation of setting up a business, chosen in the field of services and particularly in the advertising sector. The objective of the "history" is to translate the issues identified theoretically in each heading’s theme into a concrete case, of which the whole development is outlined.

"Olimpo services" places this guide into the wider framework of the assistance and support activities offered by the New Entrepreneurship helpdesk, making use of a series of data banks and information systems specifically designed for setting up in business.

Finally the "useful links", feature lists the most interesting websites, where it is possible to find a whole range of information, from statistics to financing, from guidelines for drawing up the business plan to entrepreneurial success stories.

In conclusion, this is a first window offering a glimpse of the reality of setting up in business, which should be especially useful to people who are completely unaware of the road they have to travel when they decide to become entrepreneurs.
