The volume is made up of 11 chapters, of about 300 pages, 147 of which are tables and 61 diagrams.
It starts from the analysis of province’s economy cyclical dynamics, while along the central chapters goes through the analysis of the Treviso entrepreneurial structure using information gathered from the Chamber archives.
Using Chamber archives, the report, also lead an analysis on the attitude towards the innovation of enterprises’ financial structure.Moreover, it points to the basis indexes as the product and availability of earnings, tourism fluxes or the sale retail structure.It gives also the capital’s structure report, through issues indexed in the report.
1. Cyclical indicators.
Performance of the manufacturing industry and its forecasts for 2006.
The records show an opposite tendency of a + 1.0%, which is due to changes during the last quarterly of the 2005 in relation to the same previous year quarterly.After a year of steady trend, the export bookings recovered a + 4.2% average.Substantially, behaviour’s entrepreneurs changed positively; they are regaining trust especially because the foreign bookings showed important recovery signs.
2. Export
This has been a year of light decline for the Treviso export market: -0.8% was the percentage for 2005 against the previous year.However, top sectors, as the manufacturing, kept a positive trend: industrial machinery (+5.3%), sport shoes (+3.0%) and the clothing (+7.6%).
Economic inhibitor facts occurred also because of the strength of Euro against the Dollar and the slowing down of the German economy.However, is still good the diversification ability towards new markets, particularly towards the Russian one (+ 19.6%).
Having a close look to Treviso services export, it is possible to notice the influence generated by the know-how Brands stop, which is 2.6% on the total of credits; only in Piemonte the influence has been higher (2.7%) but the North-West aggregated data decreases of 1.8%.
3. Enterprises dynamics by sectors.
93,728 is the number of enterprises registered within Treviso province, 84,169 of whom are currently actively working.The historical contraction of the manufacturing sector is still going on (-243 enterprises compared to the 2004).Constructions sectors (+364 units) is growing, while the sale retails and restaurateur services are still; services to enterprises are also growing and particularly the estate agents (+ 457 units) and personal care services (+104 units) side sectors.
Among the most dynamics areas there is Castelfranco Veneto town which increases the number of restaurateurs activities of a 5.7%; Montebelluna increases of 5.5% the personal care services sector, while the Quartier del Paive area register growth of 5.9% on the construction sector. Vittorio Veneto rises its percentage of sale retails and restaurateurs activities of respectively a 3.2% and 2.3%.
4. Enterprises’ main characteristics
Joint venture enterprises keep growing: their weight within the province is of 18.8% against the 2004 data of 18.1%.
With what concerns the enterprises distribution on the territory by foundation year, the 35% of Treviso enterprises has been funded or transformed between the 2000 and the 2005.Within the manufacturing sector, on the opposite, there are still 13.5% enterprises funded between the two decades 1960-80.
5. Industrial Groups
Industrial Groups in Treviso province are increasing: form 1,373 of the 2004 to the 1,633 in 2005.35% of groups are mainly specialised in services, while mechanical engineering and furniture result to be the most interesting side sectors belonging to the manufacturing.
6.Small and Medium size enterprises main characteristics.
26,186 are the small and medium enterprises within Treviso provincial district, and their number is mainly still from 2004.The most important growth from 2004 is concentrated within the construction sector (+347 new records), while manufacturing SMEs are decisively decreasing with the exception of the food industry which show a positive balance of 23 units and of the machinery sector with a +17 units.
7. Entrepreneurial main characteristics.
Treviso entrepreneurs are 137,1337, 25,2% of whom are women.During the 2005 entrepreneurial women were concentrated in the wholesale and retail trades, in estate agents activities, in restaurateurs and other public and social services activities.Women entrepreneurs are growing especially within states agents activities for a + 9.0% (+335 units) and public services for a + 2.0% (+46 units).
Foreigner entrepreneurs are 8.908, 82.55% of whom are oversees from non European Countries.These represent the 5.4% of the total of entrepreneurs and are growth of 711 units against the 2004.The more active sector in percentage terms is the transport and communication one (+23.1% for an overall of 352 units) where call centres and internet points are the most numerous activities.
In the construction sector are very strong companies where are employed East Europe Countries citizens, in the sale retails prevails Africans and Asia citizens (Morocco, China, Senegal, Bangladesh and Nigeria), in the manufacturing sector the Chinese are the most, above all for what concern the clothing items wrapping.Finally in the transport and communication sector are prevailing the Moroccans citizens.
Sectors showing the elderly average in the entrepreneurial forces are agriculture, clothing industries and wood.On the opposite, the ones with the younger entrepreneurs are public, social and personal care services, construction and restaurateurs activities sectors.
8. Added value, available earnings and consumptions.
During the 2004, last available year, the total wealth produced by the Treviso territory was of about €19,800 millions, it means to say the 17.4% of the Regional added value, showing a growth of 4.2% compared with the 2003.Among macro sectors observed, the construction sector is flagging up the larger growth: +6.9%.The 57.1% of the provincial added value is determined by services, while, strictly speaking, the industry sector contributes to the 34.2% of the GDP.It is good to point out that the Treviso SMEs produced added value represents over the 80% of the manufacturing sector.
The growth of the added value per person in Treviso, is also recovering: 2.1% (from €22.124 to €22.583 per head) such as Treviso can be positioned as the 38th in the National classification.
9. Propensity to the innovation
In terms of registered patents, Treviso shift from the 11th to the 8th position within the National borders, increasing of 14.8% the numbers of the registration compared with the 2004.Particularly, are growing invention registrations (+28.9% against the 2004, which is the larger growth at Regional, +8.8% and National, +1% levels).
In addition, the focus on the Enterprises Trade Marks is growing: registrations of Trade Marks in our province are growing of the 16.2%, which, also in this instance, this is the larger figure to both the Regional and National dynamics.
10. Enterprises’ Financial Structure, the credit.
The manufacturing sector balance during the 2004 growths of 6.2% and the earnings of the invested capital (ROI) for the same year is equal to +4.6% (lightly growing comparing to the +4.2% of the 2003).Emerges also the decreasing to the overall weight of the short term financial investment debts (30.1% in the 2003, 29.0% in 2004) compared with the weight of the middle-long term financial investment debts which is decreasing, but slower: from 11.4% of 2003 to the 10.8% of the 2004.
On the cash side, decreases the trend to accept any booking from any customer, independently from the effective capacity in financing the booking execution: the overtrading indicator shift form +52.1% of the 2003 to the +50.9% of the 2004.
11.Sale retail, tourism, prices.
In Treviso, during the 2005, 11,436 restaurateur and sale retail activities result to be active, with a decrease of 0.7% if compared with the 2004.
Ifthe sale retailer web is taken in consideration according to the merchandising specialisation, the most meaningful decreasing during the 2004, it has been verified on the household appliances and radio-TV (-8.1%) and on the textile products (-4.1%).
Non-specialised and non-food hall shops (+28.8%) and orthopaedic retails (+34.2%) are the ones that are growing more.
For what concern the traffic of tourists, they are decreasing in Treviso of about 2.0% for Italians and of about 1.0% for foreigners.Such negativity on the trends can be due to the hotels arrival while for what concerns extra-hotel actives, Italian arrivals are growing especially in the agro-food structures and in the private accommodation and bed & breakfast.
Tourist infrastructure receptions are decreasing: the gross indicator of use, it means to say the relation between tourist presences registered in the hotels and the availability of beds in hotels express in terms of day-beds, decreases of 43% in the 2000 to the 31.9% in 2005.
Foreigner tourists in Treviso during the 2005 were mainly Germans, British and Spanish, followed by French and North Americans.
