If you want to start up a business, both a sole-proprietor firm and
a company, you need to join the local Chamber of Commerce and the VAT
office for the assignation of the VAT registration number. Both the fulfilments
must be performed within 30 days since the actual beginning of the business.
If you want to start up a company you previously need to formalize its
establishment in the presence of a notary.
Registration to the Chamber of Commerce can be differentiated according
to the line of business of the firm (for example a craft firm must be
put on the artisan register).
The possession of fixed licences issued by public bodies, as Municipality
or Region, is required for some business activities or services. Moreover,
for the practice of certain activities it is needed the possession of
some requirements, as academic (professional) qualifications or you must
be experienced in a specific field (as for example plant engineers).
Furthermore, for business and craft sectors and for some service activities,
it is also normally required the registration to the Inps (National Social
Security Institute), to be carried out by the interested party (craft
firms excepted) within 30 days since the actual beginning of the business.
In addition, for activities involving the use of machineries and equipments
potentially dangerous (activities with risk of accident) the registration
to Inail (Industrial injury compensation board) is normally required.
